Im a huge fan of SHARP images. I will usually throw out any image (regardless how much I love it) if there is any issue with the image’s focus. That being said, there is a reason I specialize in photographing couples, teens, and weddings. They don’t involve children running around the scene. I have a hard enough time photographing my own kids because they rarely do what I ask them in front of the camera. Photographing kids is difficult.
I recently bought my wife a new Sony a6000 mainly so she would stop asking me to take photos of the kids. I’m kidding. That wasn’t the ONLY reason, but it played a part. After using her camera on a few occasions, I have fallen in love with it, myself. For a sub $500 camera, it is amazing! Even with the Sony 16-50mm kit lens, it is a beast of a camera and takes stunning images. Being able to quickly capture a fast moving subject is a very difficult skill to master. Though, I feel as if this camera does it all for you.
Lately, Cora has recently become addicted to our trampoline. Once she is on it, she does. not. stop. She runs into the screen, jumps into your lap, and laughs SO hard the entire time. This amount of unbridled movement would put most cameras to through their paces. I figured I would put the a6000‘s renowned AF to the test and was pleasantly surprised. Usually after a short session with my kids, I’m struggling to find even a few decent ones in focus to share. This time I had a plethora of sharp images to cull through. Wow! Here are some of the results from documenting her pure joy of her new favorite thing!
For me, actually wanting to take photos of my kids because is a stressor. Being confident I’ll get sharp, clean, images is why AF is important to me. Otherwise, I have less photos of the little girls I love.
The best part is that Sony is rumored to introduce an a6100 (a6000 replacement) soon, meaning you should expect this awesome marvel to go down even more in the next few months!
